Mussolini wrongly shortens this to ‘Gran Bretagna’ but, rightly, does not say ‘Inghilterra’.
Thousands of soldiers in the British army from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland fought and died in the North African campaign and in helping liberate Italy.
